This was a Mozart concert in which well over a thousand singers came to the Albert Hall to sing in the Requiem. An extraordinary wall of sound and a piece of music rather more serious than the few other works from this composer that I am familiar with. So well worth experiencing. The two pieces in the first half were Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade No 13 for Strings in G Major) and the Third Horn Concerto in E Flat. The Principal Conductor was Brian Kay (celebrating his 80th birthday) and the horn soloist was Ben Goldscheider. The vocal soloists were Rachel Speirs soprano, Bethany Horak-Hallett mezzo-soprano, Ruairi Bowen tenor and Ossian Huskinson bass-baritone. And my siblings Andrew and Ann sang in the chorus.
