Misha Mullov-Abbado Group, Royal Festival Hall, London (GB) - 1 mars 2019

The programme consisted of Mullov-Abbado compositions. The band were James Davison trumpet/flugelhorn, Matthew Herd alto sax, Sam Rapley tenor sax, Liam Dunachie piano, Misha Mullov-Abbado double bass and Scott Chapman drums. Nice enough gig, hardly any uptempo numbers, themes sometimes inspired by musics other than jazz, competent soloing. As often the case with current UK jazz, the writing is interesting but the performance is largely too sedate for my taste, staid even.
