The Muddy Waters Band again: Muddy guitar/vocal, Jerry Portnoy harmonica, Luther Johnson guitar, Bob Margolin guitar, Pinetop Perkins piano, Calvin Jones bs guitar, Willie Smith drums. Great Chicago blues. Extraordinarily, Chris Barber the jazz trombonist came on for several numbers. This only made sense to those who knew that Muddy toured with Barber in 1958 when this kind of blues had little profile in this country – probably the first visit by a Chicago blues musician (if you exclude Big Bill Broonzy who hardly played the city’s music any more).
