Mojo Nixon, guitar/vocal/composer, and Skid Roper, upright washboard, were a highly amusing slice of Americana. Very entertaining lyrics. Hawkins, piano/vocal, accompanists unknown, delivered his theatrical, almost histrionic performance, dressed flamboyantly and with a skull and other voodoo-flavoured props and singing almost operatically his established compositions, eg Alligator Wine, Constipation Blues and the famous I Put A Spell On You. Fascinating evening. Reviewed in Juke Blues 17, Autumn 1989.
