Mississippi MacDonald started with a solo performance, vocal and guitar, singing mostly his own blues compositions. A good voice with elements of soul technique; guitar (acoustic) mainly derived from Robert Johnson’s playing with one exception – McTell’s Statesboro Blues for which he changed instruments. Kara Grainger sang largely her own compositions with bluesy rock accompaniment: keyboards, bass (Nick Cohen) and drums. An attractive voice which, I think, was too light for a noisy rock band (needs separating within the mix). Great guitar playing though.
