Capital Radio Jazz Festival 1979 : Mingus Dynasty, Alexandra Palace, London (GB) - Jul 21, 1979

This band is inspired by, and plays, the compositions of the great Charles Mingus. The personnel changes but, I think, particularly now in the year of his death, all the players were ex-members of his band. They were: Ted Curson trumpet, Jimmy Knepper trombone, John Handy alto sax, Joe Farrell tenor sax, Don Pullen piano, Charlie Haden double bass, Dannie Richmond drums. Although they were a collective, Dannie Richmond seemed to be the leader. Great music.
