David Murray Trio, Blackheath Halls, London (GB) - Jun 6, 1989

David Murray tenor sax/bass clarinet, Ray Drummond double bass, Ralph Peterson Jr drums. Unusual to have this type of music played by such high status performers at this venue. A tremendous gig with each musician showing absolute competence, sheer professionalism, inventiveness, mutual responsiveness. Helped by the relatively small size of the auditorium which meant the audience was really close to the players. Reviewed by Andy Hamilton in Wire 66, August 1989.
